Completely Disgusted

December 11, 2006

There’s no doubt why is chosen as the best invention of the Year by TIME magazine.

“Only YouTube created a new way for millions of people to entertain, educate, shock, rock and grok one another on a scale we’ve never seen before…YouTube is ultimately more interesting as a community and a culture”

Yes, definitely.

This completely disgusted clip furthermore adds more value to why it’s Time’s Invention of the Year for 2006.

Theses soldiers totally forgot that they do represent their country,
USA.  And they ignored the power of YouTube.   Well, this disgusted behavior might be the general attitude of US-led occupation forces in
Iraq. Or are these soldiers are just bad apples.

Adventures with the Venture Communist.

This thread, Adventures with the Venture Communist, contains valid points on Chinese society from bloggers own observation.  One of comments, claimed to be Chinese, made clear points about China expressing “…In one word, like money itself, morality seems a luxury for most chinese people. And we are struggling and defending the last defense line only by instinct, but it looks like a mission impossible….”

Hope In Shadows

December 11, 2006

This is the cover picture of Hope in Shadows, 2007 Downtown Eastside Portrait Calendar.  I bought one yesterday from a volunteer on Grandville St.  The picture captures a moment in which three-year-old girl’s leans forward to kiss her best friend on the forehead in Vancouver Downtown Eastside.

The picture was taken by Hannah Walker, 14-year-old girl living on the Downtown Eastside, she sees thriving in a neighborhood.  When I think about Downtown Eastside, I do tend to think only about homeless, drugs and crimes as my stereotype of the place.

The images in the 2007 Downtown Eastside Portrait Calendar including this one really smashed my stereotype and start to think again what kind of the place really is.   To see more of images on this calendar, click here
